Rene Furterer Dry Shampoo

November 1, 2010
By

About a year ago my former boss raved to me about dry shampoo, her new favorite hair product.  She informed me that it was a hair spray that gives your hair a nice fresh smell and a freshly-washed appearance. My only concern was whether dry shampoo was for Black Hair. Of course, she had no clue and my internet searches left me with nothing, so she gave me a gift card to Sephora to try it out on her dime. Loved that, but I still had questions and needed to know if this product was for my hair before I tried it.

Finally, my questions about dry shampoo were answered by an article in the October 2010 issue of Essence. Yes, dry shampoo is for us! According to the article “most are created to zap oil build up.” They recommended the Rene Furterer brand of dry shampoo (SRP. $12.00; 1.6oz can), so I grabbed my gift card and bolted to Sephora.

I tried the Rene Furterer dry shampoo four days after my washing, so at that point my hair was oily and starting to become weighed down. This product work wonders. My hair was no longer oily, but it didn’t look dry and it had volume. The only things that I could do with out was a white residue, that dissolves with a good brushing and the filmy feel that it leaves. With that said I really like the results and think dry shampoo is a great go to for in between washes.

It’s definitely for us but there’s that white residue that’s ridiculous for our hair. I’ve tried Klorane and needed to do a regular shampoo to get it out O_o

The dry shampoo I’m coveting right now is HairShadz…

…and they even have a black model with natural hair. Thank goodness because snow in my locs wasn’t cutting it! Great blog you have here, BTW.
