I love Valentine’s Day – even when I’m not in a relationship. Those times when I didn’t have someone special, I still celebrated the day with my two sister girls, Jada and Janet, which usually meant dinner reservations and the cutest Valentine’s Day movie at AMC movie theater. There is something nostalgic about still believing in love or spreading the love amongst friends. (I’m trying to not annoy you by overusing the word love.)
This year, I had a great Valentine’s Day weekend with the fellow. Me and the man went to see Shawn and Marlon Wayans at Carolines on Broadway. I expected to have a blast and I did just that as we laughed together about politics, sports, music, the younger generation and relationships. Michelle Obama just said the key to a relationship is laugher.
We had dinner reservations at the Hudson River Café, which we enjoyed and would have loved if it wasn’t for the slow service. Seriously, I was so annoyed that I had to wait 40 minutes for dessert. What were they doing, baking the cake??!?. But, the ambiance was perfect, and the staff added a special element by giving all of the women roses as we dined over a four course meal.
I must say, it was pleasant being around the gentleman during the occasion because we were not late to the comedy show or dinner – that’s another blog post for another day. Valentine’s Day was good to me in 2011.
