This weekend, I had the pleasure of going to the Angelo David Salon located at 48 East 43rd Street between Madison and Vanderbilt on the 2nd floor. This salon specializes in the treatment of hair loss for all kinds of women as well as men and hair weaving. Hair dyeing is also a specialty.
Upon my arrival to the reception area I was greeted with a warm smile from the receptionist and offered a beverage of my choice. I was then introduced me to Carlos who provided me with a tour of the salon. The walls are adorned with beautiful pictures of different type’s women in different settings and the waiting area was comfortable and peaceful. A blend of soulful and jazz music played to make the setting all the more interesting.
Carlos took me around to the private weaving and shampoo rooms as well as the back room where all the colors and supplies were kept. In the back room he pointed me to 2 women that were wig makers. These women were sewing adjustments to wigs for women (as well as men) who had experienced hair loss.
The salon itself has 4 stations, a washing area and back area for styling.
I also was taken into the private consultation room. At the salon a consultation is mandatory to make sure the needs and expectations of the client are met with the upmost perfection and professionalism.
Initially consultation rooms were set up on two sides so that men and women did not have to interact for the sake of their own privacy. However there was never a necessity for it because they had no problem being together full frontal.
Once the tour was done I was introduced to Meaghan and Drew. Meaghan was my colorist and Drew is her assistant. Meaghan gave me a brief consultation on what I would be receiving. I was there to get an Ombre coloring which is the mixture of two different colors blended to the hair. Everything at the salon is done in a team setting. Meagan and Drew both worked on my hair at the same time. She applied the color to my roots and he applied the glaze to me ends.
The process took about 15 minutes to apply and 30 minutes waiting time. Once done, Drew took me over to the shampoo station and applied a pureology shampoo super smooth and a conditioner to lock in the color and give smoothness. He recommends that hair be washed at least 2 or more times.
Redken straightening bond and argon silk were applied to my hair to protect from the heat. Together they blew out my hair as well as flat ironed it. Team work is time effective and efficient.
Viola!!!! I was ALL DONE!!!
On my way out I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Angelo David himself. He is AMAZING!!! He examined my hair and gave me his complete approval.
My overall experience at the salon was wonderful. The environment and staff are amazing and warm. It was a family setting which made it all the more worth while. If you ever are in the downtown area and are in the market for a color or weaving or just a fab and quick blow dry, Angelo David Salon is the place to go. You will not be disappointed at ALL!!! Thank you so much to Meagan and Drew for an amazing job on my hair and super thanks to Angelo for welcoming me into his salon!!!! Keep Up the Great Work Guys!!!
