I always admired Janelle Monae for her jazzy, unconventional style and vintage, flawless beauty. I am really into nude faces, strong brows  and bold lips this season. I saw a stunning picture of Janelle Monae donning my favorite look and asked Celebrity makeup artist Stacey Ellis of Byu-Ti Salon/LA to provide tips on how I – and my Beyond Black Beauty readers – can achieve this same look with MAC Cosmetics.

Face: Begin with an even base using MAC Studio Sculpt Liquid Foundation. Set your foundation with MAC Select Sheer Loose Powder on a large brush.

Get this rosy red cheek using MAC Cream Color Base, Fabulush. Dab lightly onto the cheek with a sponge working back toward the ear.

Eyes: Brighten the eye with a light color MAC Eyeshadow color, Ricepaper, under the brow and to the inside corner. Blend the darker shade, Scene, across the lid.

Line the entire eye with black Technakohl Liner, smudge the bottom lash line with at Q-tip and apply two coats of Plumplash Mascara.

Lips: Make the lips pop with Lipstick color, Cockney and apply the Clear Lip Glass over top for exceptional shine.
