Before going to Sunday brunch with my aunt and cousins, I decided to wash and go. I put on my hoop earrings, made sure my makeup was flawless and my attitude was sassy. I wish I had pictures from that day, because sister girl was looking fierce. However, I noticed after a few hours, my natural ‘do looked dry and frizzy.
My homegirl developed a natural hair conditioner called Nadia’s Hair and I decided to pick her brain a bit.
RF Question: What products should I use to keep my natural curls shiny, bouncy and full of life?
TS Answer: To start, I would use a deep conditioner that will replenish damaged hair, restore health to the scalp, and mend the broken ends so you won’t have to trim them as often. Thereby promoting growth, thickness, and shine.
For natural hair, look for products that provide a softer texture that you won’t be able to keep your fingers out. Try products like Nadia’s Hair Deep Conditioner to add shine and bounce.
I highly recommend you follow your deep conditioner/ shampoo process with Dari’s Dew Leave-in Conditioner –to enhance your natural texture and curl. Dari’s Dew is an awesome daily leave-in conditioner that promotes moisture, shine, and strengthens the hair in between regular deep conditioning treatments.
It would be ideal to deep condition your hair once every 10 days and wash out with a sulfate/chemical free shampoo (No more than two washes are needed), run a light weight conditioner through – never comb wet hair without a conditioner — and end with a leave-in conditioner. Remember to style hair in a protective style.
Always look for products that are free of chemicals, sulfate, sulfur, sulfonate, and sulfide. They are usually preceded by another word. Others ingredients to stay away from are TEAIdodecylbenzene sodium c12-15 alkyl sulfate (used in detergents and skin care).

I hope this helps and remember – nothing can grow/retain your hair better than patience, a tender hand, keeping the hair/scalp clean and moisturized, and wearing protective styles to preserve those ends. Stay the course and remain, consistency is key! Let’s Grow!
