“I want to look fabulous!  I want people literally gasp when I walk down the aisle”

I never wanted to look “natural” as many brides have said before.  This is my one day to really shine and I’m going all out. Let me backtrack…when I first started looking for a make-up artist and hair stylist for my wedding, I searched high and low.  I went to all the bridal shows I could attend, and stopped by every make-up and hair stylist booth.  I was really excited and couldn’t wait to talk about hair and make-up.  When I saw the prices for these professionals, I thought “Oh well, I guess I will be spending part of my wedding day at MAC and the Dominican’s hair salon.” The convenience of having the artist and stylist come to me was the experience I was going for but couldn’t afford.  Only a few months out from the wedding, and settling on my MAC and local hair salon agenda, my future mother-in-law (MIL) told me to about Chantel Curry.

My MIL took me to meet Chantel for a trial session for my MIL, so I could see her work.  From the start, I looovvveeeddd how she did her eyebrows.  And when she was done, my MIL looked beautiful!  I asked Chantel if she was available on my wedding day about three times followed by “You know it’s on a Thursday, right?”  After a few conversations (how much? Will you be able to come to me? Is there a trial included?) via email and checking out her Facebook Fan Page, I booked her.

We set up the trial appointment and I was so excited.   Leading up to the trial, I sent her pictures and told her the fabulous look I was going for.  The trial day finally came and I couldn’t wait to start.  She knew where I was going with my bridal look, so I gave her free range to give me my “look”.  Despite, knowing I was in good hands, I always get nervous when I’m getting make-up done because I’m afraid of looking like a clown.  She started with my make-up and gave me the perfect brow-her favorite thing.

She then worked on my eyes- my favorite thing.  I guided her with the color but she played with the make-up until she got it right.  I had the most fabulous lashes, I couldn’t believe.  She made sure to get the right color for my foundation and everything fell into place.  When my make-up was done, I was absolutely satisfied! I had achieved my fabulous look…and this was only the trial!

Then it was time for my hair. Again, I was going for something beautiful…remember I need that gasping sound when I walk down the aisle.  We looked at a few pictures and there’s this beautiful hairstyle Tyra Banks had…that was the one! But one thing, we hated the bun. Chantel said “I got it!” I didn’t know what she’d thought of but I trusted her judgment.  She started to straighten my hair and then she curled my hair.  She started to play with it and I could only see a part of it.  I started to get nervous but my MIL kept saying “T, that looks beautiful”.  I asked my son “how does Mommy look” and he said “Pretty”.  She turned me around and I could only see the front of my hair and it looked pretty.  I saw the side and I was like “awww that is so pretty”.  But I couldn’t really see the back until she gave me the mirror.  And when I saw the back… I gasped! It was gorgeous…beyond what I expected.

I put on the veil and I got a lump in my throat…I was going to cry but I held it back.  My MIL walked away from us so she could hold in her tears.  I couldn’t believe how beautiful everything came out.

So here I am…but since I want that surprise effect… stay tuned

For all my brides to be…you want to have a hair and make -up trial. Don’t skip this process.  I was also told to take tons of pictures because that is what you will be doing on your wedding day.  You want to make sure that it will look as good in the pictures as it does on your face.
